I don't like parents aging!
This Monday morning, I got a phone call at 8:15 in the morning. It was my mom. I knew something was wrong, because this was her FIRST day of summer vacation after a very long school year, and there would be NO way she'd be calling ME on her first day off, let alone that early in the morning. She asked how I was doing and I said fine, but what's wrong. She then went on to tell me that she and Daddy had been at the hospital since just after midnight. For the past few weeks, Daddy has been retaining water. He'd recently had his heart shocked for the second time due to it being out of rhythm. We took him to dinner at a local chinese restaurant on Father's Day. Which we all know that chinese food is LOADED with salt. Apparently, the salt was just enough to send him over the edge. He suffered an episode of Congestive Heart Failure, which was confirmed by a chest xray. He was able to go home the next day. And today, he's out on the golf course in 90 degree heat, with my husband, my uncle and one of my cousins. They are competing in a tourny. I just hope they remember to keep him hydrated all day. I watching him age. You always think your parents are timeless and they'll last forever. It takes a incident like this to remind us how fragile every life is, even our parents. I'm just thankful that God didn't take him home this time... I still need my Daddy.
